We're On Our Way

Hello digital World, and fellow Blogger users!

This is our first blog entry ever, and boy are we excited! First, let me introduce the Crossroads Theatre Company:

In our profile, you can read all about our mission, and how we won a TONY award in 1999 for outstanding regional theatre (really awesome since Crossroads is the first African-American theater to receive this honor in the 33-year history of this special award category. ), but since then we’ve had a few changes.

Our establishment opened in 1978- and through its years have produced some of the greatest works by African-American artists, such as George C. Wolfe’s The Colored Museum, which had its world premiere at Crossroads in 1986.

We’ve had our setbacks, as we had to close our doors for a few years in 2000- but have come back (Thanks to some very special and dedicated people; Ricardo Kahn-original co-founder, and Marshall Jones- head of the theatre department at the prestigious Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University) and are in full force.

As an establishment we are budding, and through this blog would like to share as much of that growth as we can. We ask that you continue to read, and contribute what you think of us. Any feedback is good feedback. Also, come see some shows! For real. We don’t just plop some rented act on our stage and call it ours- this stuff we produce is actually ours. Completely organic. We want it to be as waste-free as you, the audience does!

Plan on reading about upcomming shows, the work that is put into them beforehand, and behind the scenes too. If you have any questions or comments- again feel free to post something!
